Poornaprajna College hosts a National Symposium on Science and Technology featuring prominent scientists and engaging discussions on innovations.
Poornaprajna College (Autonomous) hosted a National Symposium on Science and Technology and Scientists’ Meet 2026 in Udupi on Saturday.
Scientists, including the man behind Brahmos missile, Prahlad Rama Rao, former Director of Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Bengaluru; B.R. Guruprasad, former scientist, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO); Vidhyadhiraja N.S., professor and dean, Fellowships and Extensions, Theoretical Sciences Unit, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru; Vinayaka K. Pattar, researcher, educator, and science communicator, JNCASR, and others took part in the event.
Interacting with students, Mr. Rao shared his experience with the Missile Man and former President, A.P.J Abdul Kalaam. He explained the difficulties in designing and testing the missiles, getting permission to test within and outside the country.
Mr. Rao also said he was working on cold nuclear fusion reaction mechanism for future energy generation.
Mr. Guruprasad explained about Launching Window, which is crucial for launching satellites and spacecraft into the required primary orbit. The former ISRO scientist recalled his experience behind the launch of Chandrayaan 2 and Mangalyaan missions.
Udupi Sri Admar Mutt Education Council president and Admar Mutt Junior seer Eshapriya Tirtha Swami, secretary A.P. Bhat, college principal L, Ramu, and others were present.
