Sunidhi Foundation donates advanced portable X-ray and digital radiography systems to enhance health infrastructure in Mangaluru.
The Manipal Group (TMG) Sunidhi Foundation on Saturday handed over portable X-ray and digital radiography systems to Kusamma Shambhu Shetty Haji Abdullah Mother and Child Hospital from its CSR initiative in Udupi.
District Health and Family Welfare Officer Basavaraj Hubballi, while accepting the equipment, said that the TMG has donated several equipment from its CSR funds during the last decade, as a support to upgrade the health infrastructure in the district.
Mr. Hubballi said that the Health Department was committed to making the district completely tuberculosis-free, and the work would gain momentum with the collaboration of group organisations.
District Epidemic Diseases Control Officer Prashant Bhat said as a significant green initiative in the health sector, the department has turned to the use of AI-based portable X-ray and digital radiography equipment, which can significantly reduce the carbon footprint in the environment.
In this regard, The Manipal Group has responded to the request of the department and donated the equipment, he said.
Dr. Bhat said the department, as part of its green initiative, has installed solar panels in 60 Primary Health Centres in the district, the first such initiative in the State. The Manipal Group had also joined hands in the initiative.
