‘Justice has been served’: T.N. CM Stalin, Opposition leaders welcome Pollachi sexual assault case verdict
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and DMK president on Tuesday (May 13, 2025) lauded the verdict of the Mahila Court in Coimbatore, which found all nine accused in the Pollachi sexual assault case guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
In a post on X, he said: “Justice has been served for the atrocities committed by criminals including the evil AIADMK functionary!”
“Let the ‘sirs’ who tried to protect the group comprising an AIADMK culprit bow their heads in shame if they have any dignity!” he added.
The AIADMK, meanwhile, said in a statement on X that the previous government of the party, led by Edappadi K. Palaniswami, had ordered a CBI investigation into the case, to probe the incidents of sexual assault impartially, “resulting in due justice being served today.”
The party, welcoming the verdict, stated: “We don’t have the petty intellect to spread slander for the sake of politics, like the DMK. We have no money in our pockets; we have no fear; so, we transferred this case to the CBI.”
Mr. Palaniswami, AIADMK general secretary, also welcomed the judgment. In a post on social media, Mr. Palaniswami, referring to Mr. Stalin’s post on X earlier in the day, said unlike him, the previous AIADMK government “did not try to protect anyone.”
“I had ordered an impartial inquiry by the CBI. Justice has been served,” the AIADMK leader stated.
