
PM Modi calls Budget 2026 futuristic, says India not content with fastest-growing tag

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed Union Budget 2026 as a historic and future-oriented plan that empowers women and accelerates India's journey to become the world's third-largest economy.
Calling Union Budget 2026 “historic” and future-oriented, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the government’s latest financial blueprint reflects the empowered presence of the nation’s feminine strength and gives fresh momentum to India’s journey towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy.
In his first reaction after the Budget presentation, the Prime Minister said the document strengthens the reform process and offers a clear roadmap for a developed India by 2047.

“This Budget is a strong foundation for the flight to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. This Budget will provide fresh energy and speed to the ‘reform express’ on which India is riding today. The path-breaking reforms provide an open sky to the courageous, talented youth of India,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister said India is aiming higher than just being the fastest-growing major economy.
