Passenger steals drinks, snacks on train from vendors in 'zero civic sense' video
India Today
A passenger was caught stealing snacks and water bottles from train vendors in a now-viral video, which sparked debate on civic responsibility and public behaviour in India.
A woman shared a video of a passenger allegedly stealing snacks and water bottles from train vendors, sparking outrage and debate online over civic sense and public behaviour.
Going by the handle Oppressor on X, she posted the clip questioning how such behaviour had become so normalised in public spaces and whether the issue was about poverty or a deeper lack of accountability.
In the now-viral video, the passenger can be seen sitting casually on the upper berth of a train compartment, watching vendors who move through the aisle carrying baskets filled with soft drinks, water bottles, and packaged snacks balanced on their heads.
As each vendor walks past, he discreetly picks up a few items from the basket without paying. He appears to do this repeatedly, smiling throughout, while the vendors continue walking, seemingly unaware.
The video does not show any confrontation, but the body language and repeated action suggested deliberate intent rather than a misunderstanding. The casual manner in which the items were taken, combined with the passenger’s grin, was what appeared to have particularly angered viewers.

When we look at Iran through the prism of religion and see a Shia Islamic country, we negate its thousands of years of rich pre-Islamic Persian culture. A dive into the world of Zoroastrianism and Vedas shows us how Indians and Iranians have been sharing languages, Gods, sciences and a sacred fire for thousands of years.
