
No proposal to increase working hours for govt employees from 8 to 12: Centre

Union minister Jitendra Singh said in a written reply that no such proposal is under consideration to increase the working hours of central govt employees.
No proposal is under consideration to increase working hours from 8 to 12 in central government offices, Centre informed Parliament on Thursday.
The statement was made by Union Minister of State (MoS) for Personnel Jitendra Singh in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.
An MP asked the government whether it is in the "process of increasing the man hour work from 8 hours to 12 hours a day in all government establishments?".

In response, the Union ministers said in a written reply: "No such proposal is under consideration of the government."
Earlier this month, central government offices resumed 100 per cent attendance for all employees.
A decision in this regard was made in light of the improvement in the Covid-19 situation, Union minister Jitendra Singh had told reporters.

As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
