Palestinian activist Odeh Hathalin killed by Israeli settler in West Bank, sparking outrage and international attention.
Hathalin had been actively involved in the international advocacy circuit. Just last month, he was deported from the United States after being detained at San Francisco International Airport during a planned interfaith speaking tour. U.S. immigration officials revoked his visa upon arrival.
His death is the latest in a series of incidents involving the filmmaking team behind No Other Land, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary. In March, co-director Hamdan Ballal was forcibly removed from an ambulance by Israeli forces and detained following a settler attack.
No Other Land, directed by an Israeli-Palestinian collective including Abraham, Adra, Ballal, and Rachel Szor, documents the experiences of a Palestinian family facing displacement in the West Bank. The film has drawn international acclaim for its intimate portrayal of life under occupation.
According to the United Nations, at least 964 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since October 7, 2023.
