NHRC takes suo motu cognisance of journalist's murder in Haryana, issues notice to DGP for detailed report.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Tuesday (May 27, 2025) took suo motu cognisance of the murder of a journalist near his residence at Luhari village in Jhajjar district of Haryana.
The journalist was working with an online news portal and was out for a walk after dinner when unidentified assailants shot him and fled from the spot, on May 18, 2025. The villagers took the victim to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to another hospital in Gurugram before succumbing to his injuries.
Stating that it was a violation of the human rights of the victim, the commission issued notice to the Director General of Police, Haryana, calling for a detailed report within two weeks.
