NDA wins no-confidence motion against YSRCP Mayor in GVMC, marking end of 'undemocratic' rule. Victory celebration ensues.
In a significant development in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) comprising of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party (JSP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the no-confidence motion against Mayor (YSRCP) G. Hari Venkata Kumari. The no-confidence meeting was organised by district Collector and in-charge GVMC Commissioner, M.N. Harendhira Prasad at the corporation office on Saturday (April 19, 2025).
After the meeting, Anakapalli MP C.M. Ramesh has announced that as many as 74 corporators and ex-officio members have voted against Mayor in the no-confidence trust meeting, leading to unanimous victory of the NDA.
Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao has said this is the end of ‘undemocratic’ YSRCP rule in the GVMC. He also said they will elect a new Mayor from the NDA soon.
MLAs, MPs, other political representatives and large number of supporters have already gathered at the GVMC office. Amid slogans of ‘Jai NDA’, Jai Chandrababu and Jai Pawan Kalyan, the supporters of the NDA were seen bursting firecrackers to celebrate the victory.
The corporators from the TDP have reached Visakhapatnam on Friday (April 18, 2025) late night and were shifted to a hotel near Jagadamba Junction. The corporators were welcomed by the MLAs. On Saturday morning, all the MLAs, MPs and corporators have arrived at the GVMC office to take part in the no-confidence meeting in a special private bus.
