National Film Award: Ajay Devgn thanks director Om Raut, Tanhaji creative team for big win

Ajay Devgn won the Best Actor Award along with Suriya at 68th National Film Awards. The Bollywood superstar expressed his happiness upon receiving the same.

Ajay Devgn won a National Award in the Best Actor category for his 2020 film, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The names of the winners were announced at a press conference that took place in New Delhi on July 22. Ajay jointly won the award along with Suriya (Soorarai Pottru). Ajay is elated to win the award at the announcement meet. He thanked co-winner Suriya and also congratulated the entire Tanhaji team.

Ajay Devgn is the recipient of the Best Actor Award at the 68th National Film Awards. Talking about the same, he said, “I’m elated to win the Best Actor Award for Tanhaji—The Unsung Warrior at the 68th National Awards along with Suriya who won for Soorarai Pottru. I thank everyone, most of all my creative team, the audience and my fans. I also express my gratitude to my parents & the Almighty for their blessings. Congratulations to all the other winners.”

Ajay Devgn is elated after he won the Best Actor award for Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. He didn't just star in the film but was also the producer of the project. He further spoke about winning a National Award, “As the producer of Tanhaji—The Unsung Warrior, it gives me immense joy to receive an honour at the 68th National Film Awards for the Best film that has provided wholesome entertainment. Tanhaji was exactly that. It is a good story of friendship, loyalty, family values and sacrifice.”

He also said, “It has strong national sentiments, super VFX and a holistic approach in entertainment. I must share the honour with my director Om Raut, my co-producers, T-Series and my co-actors. Most of all, I thank my creative team who has contributed handsomely to making this a blockbuster and now a National Award winner.”

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has Ajay Devgn play the titular role of Tanaji Malusare, a Maratha warrior in the army of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Kajol, as Savitribai Malusare, is Tanaji's on-screen wife. Saif Ali Khan is seen in a negative role of Udaybhan, a Rajput official, who works for Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Saif has received a lot of praise for his performance in the role.
