Mumbai Police posts Punch the viral baby monkey's pic for 112 helpline awareness
India Today
Mumbai Police use the viral story of Punch, a young Japanese macaque, to promote public knowledge of the national emergency helpline number 112.
The viral baby monkey named Punch from a Japanese zoo is now helping Mumbai Police spread an important message; dial 112 in an emergency.
Sharing his image on social media, Mumbai Police posted a message that read, “Be wise, report vice,” along with the hashtags #JustPunchIn112 and #WiseMonkeyAdvise.
The clever wordplay linking the monkey’s name with the helpline number caught users’ attention, blending emotion with a civic message. Authorities reminded citizens that 112 can be accessed via phone call, SMS, email, panic button, or through the ‘112 India’ mobile application.
