Workers of Raj Thackeray's party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena played the Hanuman Chalisa on a loudspeaker outside Shiv Sena Bhawan in Mumbai on Sunday. The police have confiscated their vehicle and detained an MNS leader.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers played the Hanuman Chalisa and other religious songs on a loudspeaker outside Shiv Sena’s party headquarters in Mumbai on Sunday.
Soon, the police put a stop to it, confiscated the vehicle which was being used to play the devotional songs and detained MNS leader Yashwant Killekar. He was taken to Shivaji Park police station.

This comes about a week after MNS chief Raj Thackeray asked the Maharashtra government to remove loudspeakers from mosques. He warned that if the loudspeakers were not removed, the Hanuman Chalisa would be played outside mosques at a louder volume than the azan.
“I am not against prayer, or any particular religion. I do take pride in my own religion," he added.
He hit out at his estranged cousin Uddhav Thackeray and said the CM had betrayed the trust of the electorate by aligning with the very forces he opposed during the elections.
