Michelin continues the tradition of showcasing future mobility solutions at the annual Movin’On global sustainable mobility summit with a racing tyre comprised of bio-sourced and recycled materials.
For the 2021 Movin’On Summit, Michelin is presenting a racing tyre that could pave the way for sustainable, eco-friendly rubber for use in motorsports. This new Michelin high-performance racing tyre boasts use of 46 per cent sustainable materials. Michelin has managed a sustainable material composition of 46 per cent by increasing the content of natural rubber and using recycled carbon black recovered from end-of-life tyres. Other bio-sourced and recycled materials are present as well including orange and lemon rind, sunflower oil, pine resin and recycled steel from aluminium cans. Michelin claims that this tyre with high sustainable content still “delivers superior on-track performance”. The tyre will be used by the GreenGT Mission H24 hydrogen-powered prototype developed for endurance racing.
