Members of third gender demand a survey in U.T.

Voters of the third gender want the next government in the Union Territory to conduct a survey to identify the number of transgenders and frame measures to bring them into the mainstream. As per electoral statistics available with the authorities, the Union Territory has 116 third gender voters, including 96 in the Puducherry region. Ariankuppam constituency had the largest number of 18 third gender voters, followed by 16 in Karaikal North. Sheetal Nayak, president of Sahodaran Community Oriented Health Development Society, told The Hindu, after voting in a polling booth at Ariankuppam, that the number of eligible transgender voters were much more than the figure with election authorities.More Related News
Around 440 MBBS graduates of 2021 are not required to undergo one year of compulsory rural service as per the bond signed by them while joining the medical course through government-quota seats in 2015 as the High Court of Karnataka has said the law, enacted in 2012 for mandatory rural service, remained unenforced for 10 years as it was published in the official gazette only in July 2022.
