Mega Millions resets to $50M after back‑to‑back jackpot winners
USA TODAY
After two jackpot hits in one week, Mega Millions resets to $50 million ahead of Friday night’s drawing.
The Mega Millions jackpot has reset to $50 million with a $22.6 million cash option ahead of Friday's drawing, after a lucky player in Ohio hit a $60 million jackpot earlier this week.
If someone wins on March 20, they’ll have two payment options: take a one‑time lump‑sum payment or opt for annual payments that start immediately and grow by 5% each year.
The Ohio win capped a sudden end to what had been a months‑long dry spell. There were no Mega Millions jackpot winners between December and early March — until March 10, when a player in Illinois claimed a $536 million prize.
Exactly one week later, on St. Patrick’s Day, an Ohio player struck gold again.
With the next drawing just hours away, here’s what you need to know before buying a ticket.
