Final March Social Security payments hit this week
USA TODAY
The third and final wave of Social Security payments for the month of March is coming this week. Here's what recipients need to know.
The third and final round of Social Security payments for March is hitting this week, right on schedule.
The timing comes as new questions are being raised about the program’s long-term future. A recent report from the Congressional Budget Office says Social Security’s main trust fund could run out by fiscal year 2032.
That’s sooner than expected. Just last summer, the program’s trustees projected the fund would last until 2033.
If the trust fund is depleted, payroll taxes alone wouldn’t be enough to cover full benefits. Unless Congress acts, that would mean automatic cuts to monthly checks.
Here’s what you need to know about this week’s Social Security payments.
