
MCC identifies five acres at Bondanthila village to shelter stray dogs as per SC direction

Presenting the corporation’s Budget for 2026-27, he said that the civic body has earmarked ₹2 crore for the shelter in the Budget. The shelter will be managed either by any non-government organisation or private agencies. The shelter is meant for rehabilitating street dogs as per the order of the Supreme Court.
He said the corporation has reserved ₹20 lakhs for introducing e-office in the offices of the civic body.
The Administrator said ₹2 crore has been allocated for traffic management, installing high resolution CCTV cameras to prevent black spots and public security purposes.
He said ₹20 lakhs has been earmarked for providing financial assistance to the families of those soldiers of armed forces, including BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, Assam Rifles, SSB and NSG, who sacrificed their lives in protecting the country.
The other allocations include ₹9 lakh for promoting Kambala events, ₹10 lakh for Yakshagana events, ₹50 lakh for promoting Tulu art and culture, including theatre activities and Bhootaradhane, ₹40 lakh for sports events, ₹50 lakh for group insurance for poura karmikas.
