Massive security and traffic arrangements across Hyderabad for Hanuman Jayanti and IPL Match on Saturday

Massive security and traffic arrangements across Hyderabad for Hanuman Jayanti and IPL Match on Saturday

Hyderabad prepares for high-alert day with police deploying 17,000 personnel for Hanuman Jayanti processions and IPL match on Saturday (April 12, 2025).

Hyderabad is set for a high-alert day on Saturday (April 12, 2025), with Hyderabad Police making elaborate arrangements in view of the Sri Hanuman Jayanti processions and the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings at the Uppal stadium. Authorities would deploy over 17,000 police personnel across the city to ensure smooth conduct of the religious festivities.

Approximately 150 Sri Veera Hanuman Vijaya Yatras would be held within the Hyderabad Commissionerate limits, with an additional 46 processions originating from Cyberabad and Rachakonda Commissionerate. All of them will converge with the main yatra, traversing a 12.2-kilometre route from Sri Rama Mandir in Gowliguda to Tadbund Hanuman Temple. Traffic restrictions will be in place for these procession and the police will be operationalising a joint control room, from 8 a.m. on Saturday at the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) building. In an inspection held last week, Hyderabad police commissioner C.V. Anand, along with senior officials, reviewed the yatra route, issuing directions for swift resolution of all pending civic and logistical issues.

The police also directed organisers to train and increase the number of rope party volunteers to ensure a disciplined and safe environment throughout the procession. The suitability of tusker vehicles navigating through narrow streets was also emphasised.

The area of Nampally is also likely to see traffic congestion as a public meeting titled ‘The Waqf Protection: Future Challenges and Roadmap’ to be organised by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) is scheduled to take place on Friday (April 12, 2025) at 7 p.m. at Nehru Auditorium, Madina Education Centre, Nampally. Officers from the Hyderabad Traffic Police confirmed that their personnel will be deployed in the area to manage congestion and ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the event. While no formal traffic advisory has been issued, police said any issues arising from increased traffic will be addressed in real-time.

To accommodate the yatra and the IPL match, extensive traffic restrictions will be in effect across the city. In the Uppal area, where the cricket match is scheduled to begin at 7.30 p.m., Rachakonda Police will enforce diversions from 4.00 p.m. to 11.50 p.m. Heavy vehicles such as lorries, dumpers and tankers will be restricted during these hours.

Traffic approaching Uppal from Chengicherla, Boduppal and Peerzadiguda will be diverted at HMDA Bhagyath Road towards Nagole. Vehicles from L.B. Nagar will be rerouted at Nagole Metro Station U-turn, while traffic from Tarnaka will be diverted at Habsiguda X Road towards Nacharam and Cherlapally. Motorists travelling from Ramanthapur to Uppal will be redirected via Metro Pillar 972 and Street No. 8.

Police across all three commissionerates have urged citizens to comply with the advisories and cooperate to ensure a peaceful and incident-free celebration. They have also warned the public against spreading or believing in fake or provocative messages on social media.
