US President Joe Biden will get to savour the taste of Indian mangoes after a box of mangoes from Baramati was gifted to the White House on Thursday.
US President Joe Biden will get to savour the taste of Indian mangoes after a pandemic-induced ban on the fruit’s export was lifted after a gap of two years.
A box of mangoes was gifted to the White House during a mango promotion event in Washington on Thursday. The mangoes were produced by Pune-based Rainbow International, which is part of the Baramati Agricultural Produce Market Committee.
MP Supriya Sule shared the happy news on Twitter a couple of days ago.
Mango varieties like Kesar, Hapus, Mankur from Maharashtra and Himayat and Begumpalli from Andhra Pradesh were procured for the White House.
The Baramati Agricultural Produce Market Committee exports mangoes to 31 countries, including the USA, Australia, Canada and Israel. So far, 400 tonnes of mangoes have been exported, of which 200 tonnes were sent to the US.
