Clothes soaked in cocaine worth Rs 24 crore seized at Bengaluru airport

The Narcotics Control Bureau's Bengaluru unit had preliminary information that a woman was flying from São Paulo to Bengaluru with cocaine. The NCB acted on the basis of the information and nabbed the woman.
The Bengaluru unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on February 17 seized 4.776 kilograms of cocaine worth Rs 23.88 crore from a Brazilian citiezn on February 17 at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. Her clothes were allegedly soaked in cocaine.
As per sources, the Bengaluru unit had preliminary information that a passenger flying from So Paulo to Doha and then Doha to Bengaluru was carrying drugs. Acting on the information, the police apprehended the passenger as soon as she landed at the airport.
The NCB then conducted a thorough search and checked her baggage. They found four women’s handbags with false walls and concealed bottom compartments. The cavities contained multiple pieces of clothing fabric chemically infused with cocaine.
The accused was detained for further questioning to trace the source, intended destination, and possible trafficking network, as per the NCB officials.
A case has also been registered under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
