Man shares why 'Indians have terrible reputation' as tourists abroad after Vietnam trip
India Today
A Reddit post by a man travelling in Vietnam led to discussion online about the conduct of Indian tourists overseas, pointing out various incidents and broader concerns about civic sense and cultural expectations.
An Indian man shared his observations about the behaviour of some Indian tourists abroad, saying his recent trip to Vietnam helped him understand why the stereotype of “difficult Indian tourists” existed in several places.
The post, shared on the subreddit r/CriticalThinkingIndia, came from a man who said he was currently travelling in Phu Quoc, Vietnam, and had witnessed several incidents that left him uncomfortable.
Opening his post candidly, he wrote, “I’m an Indian currently travelling in Phu Quoc, Vietnam, and after this trip I’m honestly starting to understand why Indians have such a terrible reputation as tourists abroad.”
He added that while the stereotype does not apply to every traveller, repeated instances of poor behaviour contribute to the perception.
“Before anyone jumps in with ‘not all Indians,’ yes obviously. But enough Indians behave badly that the stereotype exists for a reason,” he wrote.
One of the first incidents he described took place during his flight to Vietnam. According to him, several passengers were rude toward the cabin crew.

The profiles of at least three of China's leading nuclear, missile and radar experts were scrubbed from the website of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the country's most prestigious academic body. This comes as a series of purges under Premier Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign have decimated the upper echelons of China's military and scientific community.

The aircraft had also been used by senior Iranian officials and military figures for both domestic and international travel, and for coordinating with allied countries, the Israeli military said. Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport has resumed flight operations after a temporary suspension of about seven hours caused by a drone strike near a fuel tank facility.

When we look at Iran through the prism of religion and see a Shia Islamic country, we negate its thousands of years of rich pre-Islamic Persian culture. A dive into the world of Zoroastrianism and Vedas shows us how Indians and Iranians have been sharing languages, Gods, sciences and a sacred fire for thousands of years.
