Actor Mammootty inaugurated the ‘Prasada Oottu’ (festival feast) held as part of the annual festival at the Ernakulam Siva Temple here on Tuesday.
It was the first public function that he attended in Kochi after securing the prestigious Padma Bhushan award. The temple authorities had invited him to inaugurate the programme even before the award was declared on Sunday. Anto Joseph, producer, Santhi Mayadevi, actor and scriptwriter, accompanied the actor.
The temple authorities draped a ‘ponnada’ on him. The actor inaugurated the festival feast by serving rice to the devotees. He thanked the organisers for extending an invitation to him. The temple authorities stated that the actor’s presence reflected the religious harmony and unity among all sections of society.
