Mahira Khan slammed by Pakistani anchor for starring in shows promoting abusive marriages

Anchor Kanwal Ahmed took to Twitter to share a post about Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and slammed her for starring in shows promoting abusive marriages.

Mahira Khan is a well-known Pakistani actress known for starring in hit dramas like Humsafar and Bin Roye. She made her Bollywood debut in 2017 opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Raees. They use their privilege to make money and still push regressive ideas, all the while living life with a lot more freedom than they advocate for "ordinary" women. Patriarchy zindabad. Not fair Kanwal to disregard all her work and only point these to projects. Because she is the beneficiary of the industry unfortunately. Our celebs are all about “selective activism.” They want their freedom and apace to be respected by masses on SM but preach the opposite with their characters just because they get paid for it. Let's not forget that actors around the world take on all kinds of roles during their career. It doesn't mean they believe in those characters, we praise Hollywood, Bollywood actors for their diversity yet judge our own. @TheMahiraKhan recently chose a very powerful role of Nigar Stuck in playing naive girl in early 20’s. This is what she chooses, there must be other scripts. She can produce dramas herself but no I think it’s a bit unfair to judge MK for her roles choices coz many stars so screwed up characters yet they are not judged because they are philanthropists and use their stardom to support well deserved causes - MK does the same thing as well then why should she be judged -

Kanwal Ahmed took to Twitter and criticised the actress for acting in dramas that glorify emotionally abusive marriages.
