Madras High Court orders handing over of AIADMK HQ keys to Palaniswami

In a setback for Panneerselvam, the Madras High Court has ordered handing over of the AIADMK party office to Palaniswami.
The Madras High Court on Wednesday ordered the handing over of keys of the AIADMK office to interim general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami. The Tamil Nadu Revenue department had locked and sealed the party headquarters following the July 11 violence.
The high court dismissed O Panneerselvam's plea for granting possession of the party headquarters, 'MGR Maaligai,' to him and said cadres should not be allowed inside the HQ to avoid any untoward incidents.
This comes a day after private banks allowed Dindigul Srinivasan, the new treasurer of AIADMK, to operate party accounts.

The DMK-led government had sealed the premises following a violent clash that broke out between supporters of Palaniswami and Panneerselvam on July 11, when an AIADMK general council, its highest decision-making body, picked the former as its interim general secretary. Later, EPS expelled OPS and his supporters from the party.
A day after he was expelled, OPS, the former coordinator and treasurer of AIADMK, had written to banks requesting them to not allow any transactions without his knowledge. But on Tuesday, bank officials reportedly verified the attached documents and permitted Srinivasan to handle the party transactions.
