The gruesome episode occurred on Thursday afternoon in Samanna village when the victim, identified as Bharat Vishwakarma, was on his way to visit his sister for the festival of Bhai Dooj and was attacked.
Police said the accused, Gudda Patel, allegedly ambushed the teenager from behind at around 1:30 pm. Witnesses told investigators that Patel first struck Bharat with an iron rod, knocking him to the ground. He then repeatedly hit the boy with a hammer, inflicting fatal injuries.
"As soon as the boy came out, he was hit in the head and was killed. He was also hit in the head with a rod and a hammer. Gudda Patel ran away and was arrested," senior cop HR Pandey said.
What followed, villagers say, was even more disturbing. Eyewitnesses claimed the attacker began drinking blood from the boy’s head and appeared to try to tear flesh from the body.

India on Monday said it has not held bilateral talks with the United States on deploying naval vessels to secure merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The clarification came after US President Donald Trump urged countries to send warships to keep the strategic waterway open amid tensions with Iran.
