Karnataka prioritises LPG supply for hospitals and schools amid crisis; hotels must wait a week for deliveries.
The supply of commercial LPG cylinders would be prioritised to hospitals, hostels and residential schools, Food and Civil Supplies Minister K.H. Muniyappa announced on March 13. Hotels will have to wait for at least a week by which time supply of LPG cylinders is expected to improve, he added.
“I met oil marketing companies (OMCs) representatives again today (Friday) and they have informed me that adequate stocks are available to be supplied,” the Minister told Legislative Council. He said that commercial cylinders supply will be used in hospitals, hostels and residential schools for preparation of essential food items.
The Minister said, “Whatever commercial LPG cylinders is available in the State will be prioritised. It may take at least one week to supply cylinders to hotels. We have suggested to them to utilse electric stove to prepare only those items that are required.”
Mr. Muniyappa said that the deputy commissioners have been asked to have a strict vigil against LPG cylinders being sold in black market.
