Loud singing on Bengaluru Metro: Young passengers deboarded, 14 penalised by police

Bengaluru Metro penalises 14 passengers for disrupting services with loud singing, following a viral clip of their antics.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) took action after a group of youngsters allegedly created a commotion inside a metro train on the night of March 15, 2026, loudly singing Hindi songs, causing inconvenience to fellow passengers and briefly delaying train services.

According to BMRCL, the group had boarded the train at Madavara Metro Station around 10.57 p.m. after attending a concert at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. Officials said the passengers disrupted the travel experience of others on board. “Security personnel intervened and ensured immediate deboarding of the individuals. They were later handed over to law enforcement authorities for further action,” BMRCL official said.

The incident has already gone viral. A clip shows a group occupying the ladies’ coach, sitting on the floor and singing Hindi songs, in violation of norms. The video drew widespread criticism from commuters online.

A BMRCL official added that the action was taken in line with its commitment to ensuring a safe, secure and hassle-free travel experience for all passengers. “Such behaviour will not be tolerated on the metro network,” official added.

Based on a complaint filed by a BMRCL official, the Peenya police registered a Non-Cognisable Report (NCR) and made 14 male passengers pay a court fine.

“Under the Karnataka Police Act, we booked a petty case and made them pay a fine. We have also made them write an apology letter, along with an undertaking that they will not repeat such behaviour,” the police officer said.
