Locals block road over desecration of Lord Hanuman’s idol in J&K’s Kathua

Locals blocked the Dhar Road in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district for three hours over the desecration of Lord Hanuman’s idol.

Residents blocked the Dhar Road in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district for three hours on Tuesday afternoon to protest against the desecration of Lord Hanuman’s idol at a Shiva temple in Palak village.

The protests stopped and roads were cleared after SDPO Billawar Arvind Kumar reached the spot, registered an FIR against the unidentified miscreants, and assured action within 24 hours.

Police said residents of Palak village in Mahanpur tehsil reached the Shiva temple to offer prayers and found that the idol of Lord Hanuman was broken.

The angry villagers at the temple were soon joined by several others. They informed the police about the incident. Hours later, several villagers, carrying the broken idol, reached Dhar Road and staged a protest demanding action against the miscreants.

Traffic came to a standstill for about three hours due to the protest. On receiving information, SDPO Billawar Arvind Kumar, SHO Basohli Rajendra Khajuria, SHO Bilawar Sumit Kumar, Tehsildar Radhika Sohan, and other officers reached the spot.
