CJI Ramana made the remark when senior lawyer Kapil Sibal appealed to the court to transfer the case to itself as it is a religious matter.
“Schools and colleges are closed. Girls are being stoned. This issue needs to be considered. It [hijab row] is spreading to the entire country now,” Sibal said.
Sibal said: “Exams are two months away. We have filed a petition this morning. This matter has to go before nine judges.” “I'm asking this court to list it. If the HC doesn't pass orders this court can transfer it to itself and hear it,” he added.
