A leopardess was successfully trapped and relocated by Forest Department officials in Udupi after local complaints.
A leopardess was trapped in a cage set for it by Forest Department officials at Devalagujji, Kunthalanagar in Udupi on Sunday.
The officials had set the trap last week to capture the big cat after locals complained that a leopard had been roaming in the area for the last two weeks.
The leopardess, aged between two and three years, was found trapped in the cage early this morning, the department officials said, adding that it was released in the forest after a veterinary doctor examined and certified it to be fit.
Udupi Range Forest Officer Varijakshi supervised the operations.

The State has made significant strides in infrastructure development, Public Works Department Minister P.A. Muhammed Riyas has said. Virtually inaugurating the Kuttikkanam-Kattappana stretch of the State highway on Sunday, Mr. Riyas noted that 60% of the State’s roads have been upgraded to Bituminous Macadam and Bituminous Concrete (BMBC) standards within the last five years.
