Law and order will be maintained as long as NDA is in power: Naidu

N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasizes strict law enforcement and women's safety, promising swift punishment for offenders.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu asserted that maintaining Law and Order (L&O) was of paramount importance to the State government. The government will not tolerate anyone if law and order is disrupted. The government will not spare anybody who harasses or harms women, he said in the A.P. Assembly on Tuesday.
As long as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is in power, law and order would be firmly maintained. The government would suppress gangs, fights and rowdies. The government was conducting drone patrols to ensure law and order. The government has created a system to ensure that punishments are delivered within two to three months if a crime was proven, he said.
Mr. Naidu said the Shakti app is launched keeping in view solely the security of women in the State. The government will take strict action against those who trap girls under the guise of love. During the previous TDP government, there was a case of a minor being raped in Dachepalli, Guntur district. “I deployed 18 task forces and mobilized the government machinery there. Out of fear of punishment, the accused committed suicide by hanging,” he recalled adding that a rally was organised in Vijayawada back then, making it clear that we would not tolerate anyone harming girls. We introduced the ‘Shakti’ app for women’s protection. Those who commit atrocities against girls will face consequences, he said.
MP YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder
Referring to YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder, Mr. Naidu explained that even he was caught up in the election rush and initially didn’t fully understand the situation surrounding the murder of former MP Viveka. Despite the presence of the Home Minister, senior officials and the DGP, the murder of YS Viveka was not understood clearly at first. “We all initially thought it was a heart attack,” he said, adding, a request for postmortem by Viveka’s daughter, Y.S. Sunitha, revealed the truth.
Going further, he said, “They circulated a photo of me holding a knife and labelled it as ‘Nara’s blood history’. But, there are no personal vendettas in ‘my political career’. During the YSRCP government, there were attacks on party offices. In a democracy, such attacks on party offices have never happened before. Any political party treats its party office as a temple and in my 45-year-long political life I have never experienced any incident of attack on any party office,” he said.
The previous government has miserably failed in maintaining law and order following which people could not move out freely and there was no security for government properties. Maintenance of law and order is paramount for the people to be happy and move without any fear, he said, adding, “If anyone creates law and order issues, I will not tolerate it.”
