An IndiGo flight from Kuwait to Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad airport on Friday morning after the crew discovered a hijack and bomb threat written on a tissue paper on board, airport officials said.
The aircraft landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at around 6.40 am with 180 people, including crew members, on board. The handwritten note claimed there was a bomb inside the aircraft.
After being alerted, the pilot informed air traffic control, and the flight was diverted to Ahmedabad as a precautionary measure.
All passengers were safely evacuated after landing, and their luggage is being screened. Police, bomb disposal squads and dog squads conducted a thorough search of the aircraft. So far, no suspicious object has been found during the initial checks, officials said.
The flight is expected to depart from Ahmedabad to Delhi shortly after receiving final clearance.
Two weeks ago, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Bagdogra in West Bengal was diverted to Lucknow after a major security threat was reported during boarding. The aircraft landed safely at Lucknow Airport, where all passengers were evacuated and security agencies carried out a thorough inspection.
