Khushbu Sundar says Will Smith was right in slapping Chris Rock at Oscars 2022

Khushbu Sundar defended Will Smith and said that he was right in slapping Chris Rock at Oscars 2022. She also added that her husband Sundar C would have done the same if was put in such a situation.

Khushbu Sundar defended Will Smith in the ongoing Chris Rock slapgate controversy. In an interview with a popular entertainment portal, Khushbu said that what Will did was right. She also pointed out that her husband, Sundar C, would have reacted the same way. At Oscars 2022, Chris Rock joked about Will Smith's wife Jada's bald head. This did not go down well with Will, who got up on the stage and punched him hard. Jada is suffering from alopecia.

Hours after the controversy, Will Smith took to social media to apologise to Chris Rock publically. He wrote that he is a work in progress and shouldn't have slapped Chris Rock. The Academy is now looking into the incident and would take appropriate action on Will Smith.

In an interview with The Times of India, Khushbu said that her husband would have reacted the same way. She added, "I am against any kind of violence. But in this instance, in the name of comedy, a medical issue was approached insensitively. Talking about such things in a closed room is a different thing. But you are on a world platform and you cannot take somebody’s health issue and shame them in the name of a joke."

Appreciating Will, she said, "Will Smith was fierce and protective as a husband and a family member. I was happy at his reaction. My husband would have reacted the same way. If someone talks ill about me or my children in a public forum like this, That’s how my husband would react."

Defending his actions, Khushbu remarked, "When Will Smith apologised for his actions and walked out, there was a standing ovation for him. That shows what he did was right. And people agreed with what he did."

Khushbu Sundar is currently working on a Tamil series titled Meera, which is being aired on Colors Tamil. She was last seen in the Telugu film, Aadavallu Meeku Johaarlu. Recently, she judged a dance show titled Dance Vs Dance Season 2 along with her best friend and ace dance choreographer Brinda.
