Karnataka Minister M.B. Patil launches development projects in Vijayapura

Karnataka Minister launches development projects including percolation tank construction, irrigation facilities, and infrastructure improvements in Vijayapura district.
Karnataka Infrastructure Development Minister M.B. Patil launched several development projects in an event held in Vijayapura district on Saturday.
It included a ceremony for the construction of a percolation tank by the Minor Irrigation and Groundwater Development Department at a cost of ₹2.50 crore in Malakanadevarahatti near Tikota taluk. It covers an area of 4.73 sq. km and has a bund of 240 meters or 787 feet. It has a total water storage capacity of 2.33 MCFT up to a depth of 29 feet. This will provide irrigation facilities to 136 acres of land, and groundwater in open wells and bore wells will also increase.
The Minister said the water will be released into this water body twice a year.
He urged farmers not to sell their lands. He urged them to take up horticulture, plantation, and commercial crops of various types. “Plans are being made to make good use of the water allocated to us under the Tabachi-Babaleshwar Lift Irrigation Project. At least one tmcft of water will be stored in ponds,” he said.
He launched work on two percolation tanks in Baba Nagar village, inaugurated a Maratha community hall, a new building of Karnataka Public School, a national livelihood mission project building, and inaugurated some road works in the district, according to an official release.
