Jamie Lever recalled the difficult time when her brother Jessey Lever was diagnosed with a neck tumour at the age of 10. She shared how the family, including Johnny Lever, relied on faith as Jessey underwent two surgeries before he eventually recovered.
Veteran comedian Johnny Lever once went through a challenging phase in his personal life when his son Jessey Lever was diagnosed with a tumour on the neck at the age of 10. The diagnosis shook the family, and after an unsuccessful surgery, they spent nearly two years dealing with the difficult situation before Jessey eventually recovered.
In a recent interview with Vickey Lalwani, Johnny Lever’s daughter Jamie Lever opened up about that period and recalled how the family coped with the crisis.
Recalling how the health issue first came to light, Jamie said, “He had a tumour when he was in school. At first, we didn't understand what it was, but then it became uncontrollable. It started making him uncomfortable. He even changed the way he dressed to hide the tumour. As a sister, I felt like I needed to protect him. We were in the same school, and I was always very protective of him.”
She added that the family soon realised surgery would be necessary, which marked the beginning of a very difficult phase for them.
Talking about the emotional impact, Jamie shared, “We had to go into surgery, and it was very difficult and complicated. During that phase, our lives changed completely. We were always a God-fearing family, but after this incident, things became very spiritual and real for us.”
The first surgery, which took place in Mumbai, did not succeed, forcing the family to look for further medical options abroad.
