Javed Akhtar seeks dismissal of Kangana Ranaut's transfer petition

Javed Akhtar, in his latest petition, has sought the dismissal of Kangana Ranaut's transfer petition. The plea will be heard on November 26.

Actor Kangana Ranaut's plea seeking transfer of complaint against lyricist Javed Akhtar to another Magistrate will now be heard on Nov 26, 2021. Ranaut had approached the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court seeking permission to withdraw a criminal complaint against Akhtar and refer the same to another competent Magistrate. Kangana had said that she did not have faith in the Magistrate RR Khan who was to adjudicate in the case.

In her complaint against Akhtar, Ranaut had alleged that the former criminal conspiracy and outraging modesty by invading her privacy. This was filed after Akhtar had filed a criminal defamation complaint against Ranaut claiming that her interview with a news channel defamed her. Ranaut had sought transfer of hearing of Akhtar’s complaint before another Magistrate, which was dismissed by the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate last month.
