'It was not his job': Brother of Haryana DSP who was killed by mining mafia alleges conspiracy, seeks CBI probe

Brother of Haryana DSP Surendra Singh, who was killed by the mining mafia in Nuh, alleged a huge conspiracy and sought a CBI inquiry against the mining department and station house officer (SHO) of the area.

Alleging a huge conspiracy behind the killing of DSP Surendra Singh by the mining mafia in Nuh, Makhan Singh, brother of the Haryana police officer, has sought a CBI inquiry against the mining department and station house officer (SHO) of the area.

Taoru DSP Surendra Singh, who was probing illicit mining, died on the spot after being run over by a truck. His body was found in an open dumpster.

Demanding a CBI investigation, Makhan Singh said, "It was not my brother's job. He went there after he got a call. The SHO should have looked after this matter. There is a huge conspiracy behind this. SHO and mining department should be investigated. The call that went to my brother must be traced."

The incident took place when Surendra Singh had gone to conduct a raid on Taudu Hill after receiving a tip-off about alleged illicit mining. An eyewitness said the DSP was standing near his official vehicle when he signalled the dumper driver, allegedly carrying illicit quarrying equipment, to stop. The driver did not stop and crushed the cop under his truck.

Hours after the killing, the Haryana Police arrested one of the accused, following a brief encounter. One of the accused, Ikkar, who was the cleaner of the truck, was shot at during the encounter with the police.

“In the murder case of Tauru DSP Surendra Singh, orders have been given to take strict action. Not a single culprit will be spared,” Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar tweeted.

"He has laid down his life for the nation. His son, who is a law graduate from Canada, will reach India today. The chief minister has assured us of a job and financial assistance. The government must provide Surendra's son a job at the same rank as that of his father," Makhan Singh said.
