An Indian man shared a video demonstrating how a seamless UPI payment in Nepal could be made, sparking discussions on the growing adoption of India's digital payments abroad.
An Indian man shared a video of him using UPI to make a payment in Nepal, showing how cross-border digital payments were now allowing travellers to pay directly in Nepalese rupees using Indian banking apps.
The video was shared on Instagram by Anshuman Bhagat, who documented the experience while shopping in Nepal and demonstrated how he was able to complete the payment using his Indian phone and bank account.
In the clip, Bhagat was seen scanning a QR code at a shop using his Google pay app on his smartphone. After scanning the code, the payment interface showed the amount to be paid in Nepalese Rupees (NPR).
The app then automatically displayed the equivalent amount in Indian Rupees (INR) through real-time conversion. Bhagat proceeded by selecting the bank account he wanted to use for the transaction.
After confirming the details, he entered his UPI PIN and completed the payment within seconds, successfully transferring the money through the QR code system.
Text overlaid on the video read: “Using Google Pay/UPI in Nepal. Paying directly in INR for NPR” and “Super smooth real time conversion.”

The profiles of at least three of China's leading nuclear, missile and radar experts were scrubbed from the website of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the country's most prestigious academic body. The aircraft had also been used by senior Iranian officials and military figures for both domestic and international travel, and for coordinating with allied countries, the Israeli military said. Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport has resumed flight operations after a temporary suspension of about seven hours caused by a drone strike near a fuel tank facility.

When we look at Iran through the prism of religion and see a Shia Islamic country, we negate its thousands of years of rich pre-Islamic Persian culture. A dive into the world of Zoroastrianism and Vedas shows us how Indians and Iranians have been sharing languages, Gods, sciences and a sacred fire for thousands of years.
