India-spec Toyota Hilux unveiled; bookings open
India Today
The India-spec version of the pickup has been unveiled and bookings are underway ahead of the Toyota Hilux India launch and price announcement that will take place in March 2022.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors has revealed the long-awaited Hilux Pickup truck in its India specification today. For India, it has been revealed only in double-cab variant or simply four-door variant and nearly identical to the version sold globally. Powering the Toyota Hilux is the same 2.8-litre turbo diesel we see in the Fortuner. Prices for the new Toyota Hilux will be revealed in March.
The pickup is based on Toyota’s IMV2 architecture that it shares with the Fortuner and Innova Crysta. The front fascia is muscular, and the hexagonal grille has a thick chrome strip surrounding it, a front skid plate with more silver-lined plastic grooves while the headlamp assembly is thicker than we see on the Fortuner with a different design and features LED DRLs and headlamps. Carrying on the brawny approach, the Hilux has flared wheel arches with black plastic mouldings. The rear has vertically stacked taillamps, while it rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.
