Andhra Pradesh Rythu Coolie Sangham seeks inclusion of 411 villages in scheduled category for ST land protection.
Andhra Pradesh Rythu Coolie Sangham State secretary Dantuluri Varma, along with other leaders of the association, on Wednesday requested Minister for Tribal Welfare Gummadi Sandhya Rani to initiate the inclusion of 411 villages of Parvatipuram Manyam district in the scheduled category so that STs living in the areas would able to protect their lands.
Mr. Varma submitted a detailed memorandum to Ms. Sandhya Rani in Saluru of Parvatipuram Manyam district, while representing the grievances of tribals living in non-scheduled areas. He stressed that 170 villages in Parvatipuram ITDA and 241 villages in Sithampet ITDA jurisdiction are required to be notified, as ‘influential persons’ were grabbing lands of STs.
“The Parliament’s Standing Committee on tribal people’s issues recommended the inclusion of these villages in the scheduled category in 1981 itself. However, the order was not implemented so far,” said Mr. Varma.
The Minister said that he would bring the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu since the proposal entails the government spending funds toward ST welfare in the said villages.
Rythu Coolie Sangham leaders Vuyaka Mutyalau, Peedika Asiri, Marri Chenchu and others were present.
