The recent rains and the way Chennai city and many other parts of the state got inundated threw light on one of the most pertinent issues--encroachment of the water bodies. The acting Chief Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari and Justice PD Audikesavalu though have deferred the judgement for the case, have already received the TN Chief Secretary's detailed report on the encroachments on water bodies across the state.

The government told the Bombay High Court that the situation remains dynamic due to international developments, and emphasised that it may not be appropriate to deliberate such matters within court proceedings. He assured the bench that the government is taking all necessary remedial measures to ensure that global disruptions do not adversely impact domestic supply of LPG.
