Suspicious movements inside the sack prompted the staff to open it. What they found shocked everyone in the office – an elderly man struggling to breathe.
In a bizarre incident, a Bengaluru family attempted to courier an elderly man in a sack. Later, the family apologised and revealed the whole incident was staged for social media reels. The CCTV footage of the incident has now gone viral.
The incident took place in Vyalikaval area of Bengaluru on Tuesday afternoon. Five members of a family entered the office of a local courier service and asked its staff to deliver a sack they had brought.
However, suspicious movements inside the sack prompted the staff to open it. What they found shocked everyone in the office – an elderly man struggling to breathe. Undeterred, the family continued to insist on sending the man via courier. They even offered more money but that only led to a heated argument with the staff.
When the staff alerted the police, they fled.
Later, the family apologised and said that the whole incident was staged for a social media reel. "We wanted to highlight the rising cost of bus and air tickets during Ramzan and Ugadi. We did not realise what we were doing was wrong. We apologise for our mistake," they said. The family also urged others not to attempt such stunts.
Police have taken note of the incident and further investigation is underway.

In its findings, the court underscored that "mere irregularity or lapses cannot be converted into offences," stressing that the essential ingredient of criminal intent, mens rea, was missing. It noted that there was no evidence of dishonest or fraudulent misappropriation of property entrusted to public servants, nor any material to suggest forgery or deliberate wrongdoing.
