When the fire erupted, a few people jumped from the building to save themselves. However, many were trapped after the fire engulfed the only exit route of the building.
At least seven people, including three children, were charred to death and several others were injured in a fire at a four-storey building in Delhi's Palam. At least four people have been injured, who were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Around 25 fire tenders from the Delhi Fire Service as well as a team of the National Disaster Response Force are at the spot.
According to initial reports, a short circuit may have led to the massive fire in the building, which houses a cosmetic store on the ground floor. The rest of the floors are residential, as per reports.
The incident was first reported at around 6:50 am on Wednesday.
