IMD predicts heavy rainfall in 11 Odisha districts till July 15

As per the prediction by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is likely in 11 districts of Odisha, including Puri, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul among others, till July 15.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that heavy rainfall is likely in 11 districts of Odisha till July 15 starting from today. According to the weather department, districts including Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Puri, Khurda and Balasore will receive heavy rains under the influence of a low pressure area and the intensity of rain is expected to increase from Thursday.
“Yesterday’s low pressure area over coastal areas of south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh and neighbourhood now lies over the Northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with height. It is very likely to become more marked during the next 48 hours,” the IMD said in its bulletin. Check IMD's latest weather forecast
In its extended forecast for two weeks, the IMD predicted that another low pressure area, the third of the monsoon, is likely to form towards the end of this week, triggering widespread rainfall.
Notably, several parts of the state continued to experience light to moderate rain on Monday. With 80 mm of rain, Daitari in Keonjhar district received the highest rainfall in the state in the past 24 hours.
