Buildings around the world are designed in such a way that a lot of energy goes into maintaining indoor temperature and brightness annually -- 39% of energy-related carbon dioxide emissions comes from this issue. IIT Guwahati researchers have created a ‘smart’ window material that would allow for automatic climate control in buildings and cut down massively on energy usage and reduce carbon emissions. Dr. Debabrata Sikdar, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, along with his research scholar, Ashish Kumar Chowdhary from IIT Guwahati, have designed a smart window material that can effectively control the amount of heat and light passing through it in response to an applied voltage.
