T20 World Cup 2026, India vs Namibia preview: After a gritty survival drama in Mumbai, India moves to Delhi seeking a blockbuster opening act. With Sanju Samson in and Jasprit Bumrah returning, can the hero find his rhythm before the Colombo clash with the main villain?
India walked in as defending champions in the T20 World Cup 2026. On paper? Untouchable. In the promos? Unstoppable.
But one week in, there is a faint hum beneath the anthem, a nervous buzz you couldn't quite ignore. You felt it when the scoreboard stalled against the USA, didn't you? That flicker of doubt.
Before the February 15 showdown against the arch-nemesis, the script was meant to be simple. We were promised a couple of high-octane action blocks to set the stage, a quintessential Rajinikanth opening act where the hero strides through fire in slow motion, flicks his sunglasses and sends the white ball rocketing into orbit for the gallery. It was supposed to be a statement of intent. A box-office intro scene to leave the audience breathless and the villain duly warned.
Instead? We got a survival drama.
At the Wankhede, under heavy Mumbai humidity, the script unravelled. India, 77 for 6. The supposed batting paradise turned sticky, two-paced, treacherous. The crowd fell silent. Murmurs replaced the roar. Then came the rescue act. Suryakumar Yadav produced a mathemagical 84 to steer India out of troubled waters. A wounded 161. Just enough. The bowlers completed the job, but the aura had already taken a dent.
Now the caravan moves to Delhi, where the February air carries the scent of runs. The hype machine is still in overdrive. Broadcasters are selling carnage, promising a record-breaking 300. Even pundits are convinced India can breach it.
