Congress on Saturday appointed Amarinder Singh Raja Warring as the new Punjab chief in place of Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Former Punjab Congress Committee (PCC) chief Navjot Singh Sidhu paid a price for his outbursts against his government and failure to keep the Party's flock together in Punjab.
The Congress party high command has picked Rahul Gandhi loyalist Amrinder Singh Raja Warring as the new PCC chief. He replaced Navjot Singh Sidhu who was forced to resign after the party's shameful defeat in the 2022 Assembly election.
The party high command not only ignored Sidhu but also various other leaders like his close confidant Sukhpal Singh Khaira, who was lobbying for the post of CLP leader. The party has announced Pratap Singh Bajwa as the CLP leader and Bharat Bhushan Ashu as the working president. He is a Hindu face.
Raj Kumar Chabbewal, a Dalit face, has been made the Deputy CLP leader.
Forty-four-year old Amrinder Singh is known as a combative leader who took on the influential Badals. He fined and impounded their buses when he became a transport minister during the Charanjit Singh Channi government.
