He's on it: Trump says Australia PM agreed to give asylum to Iran women footballers

Donald Trump warned that Australia would be making a "terrible humanitarian mistake" if it allowed Iran's women's national soccer team to be sent back to Iran, where he said the players would "most likely be killed."
Amid broadening conflict in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump has asked Australia to grant asylum to members of Iran’s national women’s football team, warning that the players could face grave danger if forced to return home after the tournament.
In a Truth Social post, Donald Trump said Australia would be making a "terrible humanitarian mistake by allowing the Iran National Woman’s Soccer team to be forced back to Iran, where they will most likely be killed." The team is currently in Australia for the Women’s Asian Cup tournament.
A few hours later, the US President said he had spoken directly with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese about the situation.
"I spoke with the Prime Minister of Australia, who is doing a very good job having to do with this rather delicate situation," Trump wrote in a follow-up message.
He added that five members of the Iranian squad had already been assisted while others were still deciding whether to remain abroad.
"Five members of the team have already been taken care of, and the rest are on their way," Trump said. "Some, however, feel they must go back because they are worried about the safety of their families, including threats to those family members if they don’t return."

When we look at Iran through the prism of religion and see a Shia Islamic country, we negate its thousands of years of rich pre-Islamic Persian culture. A dive into the world of Zoroastrianism and Vedas shows us how Indians and Iranians have been sharing languages, Gods, sciences and a sacred fire for thousands of years.
