The Madras High Court has directed Election Commission to file a detailed report in two days after taking note of a petition that accused the BJP's Puducherry unit of accessing Aadhar details for targeted campaigning. Anand, DYFI President of Puducherry Unit, filed a petition claiming that the Puducherry BJP unit had accessed his personal details from the Unique Identification Authority of India and was sending messages to his WhatsApp number for targeted campaigning. The first bench of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy observed that the allegation made by the petitioner 'is a matter of serious concern since it relates to a prominent political party accessing personal records'.
