Google did not reveal much about the Pixel Watch but confirmed its existence. The company also revealed that the watch will be launched alongside the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro later this year.
Since the beginning of 2022, the Pixel Watch has been a favourite topic of the leaksters. And they were right in predicting that the much-awaited watch would finally be announced in the Google I/O this year. The watch was reportedly scheduled to arrive in 2021 but due to chip shortage, it couldn’t be announced back then. Google did not reveal much about the Pixel Watch but confirmed its existence. The company also revealed that the watch will be launched alongside the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro later this year.
Now, a couple of days after Google confirmed the existence of the Pixel Watch, a new report has shared massive details about the insides of the Pixel Watch. The news, however, would not make you too happy. That is because 9to5 Google has claimed that the upcoming watch may come with some very old and outdated hardware. If reports are to be believed, the Google Pixel Watch may use Samsung’s Exynos 9110 chipset.
This chipset is almost four years old because the Exynos 9110 chipset debuted in 2018. Previously, it was speculated that the watch would use the Exynos W920. The same chipset was used in the Galaxy Watch 4. So if you are expecting the Google Watch to be a powerhouse, it will not be one because of the dated chipset it is speculated to use in the Pixel Watch. However, it is only a rumour because Google has not officially revealed which chip will drive the show in the Pixel Watch.
After months of rumours and leaks, Google finally showcased the Pixel Watch at the I/O event. However, it wasn’t a launch but an announcement. Google revealed the design of the smartwatch so that the tipsters can rest till the watch hits the market.
About the launch timeline, Google said the Pixel Watch will arrive alongside the Pixel 7 series later this year. The smartwatch features a round dial which will have a curved glass with silicone straps that bear an uncanny resemblance to the Apple Watch.
Google noted that the Pixel Watch runs an updated version of Wear OS 3 and will come with Fitbit integration that adds several new health-centric features to Google’s first Android smartwatch. Google did not reveal what chip the smartphone will use or what sensors it has, and how long it will last. For those details, you will have to wait till Google launches the watch on the market.
